Easter Art Projects
If you’re like me, you love centering your art projects and activities around any upcoming holiday. Easter is a favorite for us and this easy Easter egg stamping activity is a perfect child-led art activity that your little one will adore!
This activity came about because I was trying to find ways to make use of all the plastic Easter eggs I’ve been buying each year. We have dozens, and I (i.e. the kids) keep losing the halves to the Easter eggs. Like a true elementary school teacher, I never like to throw anything out and I’ve been hoarding these mismatched egg halves to eventually do a project with them.
Inspiration hit when I came across an old art project I have done at the kindergarten and grade two level. It was a process art stamping activity involving tempura paint and crayons.
I modified this idea to create a more toddler/preschooler friendly activity and away we went. H loved this activity and asked for it several times over the months of March and April. Not to mention I finally had a purpose for those old egg halves I had saved.
I love this idea because it is so easy to set up, yet highly engaging for young children, who are genuinely making their own art, instead of copying a craft. Plus, there’s an extension activity (see below) for older children. Mom win!
